also I didn't mention it (because it isn't something I know enough about to speak about it off the cuff) but the in between the end of stays (Georgian) and corsets (Victorian) was the regency period (which is what the video I was responding to was about) and that time period had some VERY interesting garmets during the transition. most common were cropped stays that had more curve in the bust and ended higher on the waist (some of them were so short they look like laced up bras, but I don't believe those were common and I don't know the appropriate name of the garment. hence why I didn't feel comfortable mentioning this in the video)
