#FANFIC hi guys! I tried my hardest to edit this in a way that wouldn’t be confusing, but just in case it still is: Percy is in the cruise shipwreck, gains her powers, and is immediately captured by HYDRA and experimented on (they’re the first on the scene of the wreck, because they’re inadvertently the cause of it). Percy is only with HYDRA for a couple of months before she escapes and ends up in Brazil where she meets Bruce Banner and they eventually have a found family & father/daughter dynamic. Percy has little to no memories of her life before the shipwreck and the memories she does have feel disconnected like they belong to someone else entirely. She doesn’t remember her real name, so she names herself Percy after Percy Jackson. Before she meets Bruce Banner she’s on her own and she finds a Percy Jackson book in a shop and steals it. I imagine that Percy gathers a bunch of stuff (like the book and food and water) and she hides it really well, maybe under some brush and trees near a dock, and then she sleeps underwater at night. When she meets Bruce he gets her to stop stealing though, lol. Biggest thing I wanted to clarify is that at the end of this edit, Ross is seeing the experimentation that HYDRA had previously done on Percy in some sort of leaked HYDRA tapes. However! … he obviously had no part in any of it as he’s a regular Government official and not a part of HYDRA. It’s really important to me that that’s not mixed up, because while we all know that Ross would do human rights violations on adults shamelessly, I personally don’t believe he’d be okay with the same thing happening to a child (in my opinion, based on how I interpret his character and based on the fact that he has a daughter who was once Percy’s age). Ross has a manipulative way of interacting with people. I truly think he wants control and to have a sort of “ownership” over everyone special he meets, especially people with incredible abilities like the Hulk. And while he feels sympathy for Percy, he still sees her as dangerous and needing to be contained. And also as an accomplice to Banner. Ross ends up achieving this control through the Sokovia Accords, since Percy is easily persuaded at Ross’ meeting with the Avengers that she’s a danger to society. Ross is still somewhat of a villain to Percy, but more so in a manipulative controlling way and less so in an evil bad guy way. I strongly believe that a lot of the terrible things Ross does as a character come from his belief that he’s making the best decision for the greater good of the country and so if he has to hurt people to achieve that greater good, he finds it a necessary evil. Obviously, that’s his warped perception and I don’t believe that makes it right. But alas, when I start typing from a character’s twisted perspective then all of a sudden I’m in character as that guy and it starts to sound like I agree with them LOL. Having said all that, Ross is still a major a**hole and all around bad person for the way he treated Bruce, the Avengers, and Sterns. And even in this fic for the way he treats Percy like he owns her as a weapon for the Government after Civil War. But Percy still feels a loyalty towards him that she just can’t shake. Maybe because he’s her last connection to Bruce and Betty, who are both gone from Percy’s life currently. And she feels all alone. I could go on, but I probably don’t have room in the caption, oops.
