@melyndajaynestyle: Learning to dress down was MUCH harder for me than dressing up. I wore a suit to work for 19 years. Then I spent years in the boutique wearing smart clothes and heels pretty much every day. I never wore flats until I had kids. Even then, it took me ages to get used to them — thank you, UGG boots 😂 It wasn’t that I didn’t know how to dress casually. I’m a stylist — I knew what worked. I just didn’t feel like me in it. I’d see women looking effortlessly stylish in jeans, trainers and relaxed clothes and completely get why it worked on them… but on me, I always felt slightly out of character. Casual clothes almost gave me imposter syndrome. Which probably sounds ridiculous to some women, because I know plenty will feel exactly the opposite — dressing super smart would make them feel completely out of their comfort zone. But clothes are so tied up with how we see ourselves. Eight years later and I think I’m finally relaxing into casual dressing without feeling like I’ve somehow forgotten to get dressed 😂 Anyone else feel scruffy in relaxed clothes… or like a prize turkey when dressed up? 😂 #Over40Style #CasualStyle #MidlifeStyle #StyleOver40 #personalstyle
