Retailers abuse their workers. These people earn minimum wage, clean the shop, re pack shelves, and pay for own transport after hours,no double pay weekends because it "retail". Disgraceful!

I worked in call centre in Joburg and Durban and the Coloured managers would always say they will never hire coloureds because “I know my people. I’ve worked to hard to have one of my own come here and perpetuate that coloured stereotype here”. In retail or call centres you find mostly coloured supervisors, managers and HR who tell you straight up they don’t hire coloureds! Why?

I started working for shoprite. i got 390 a week that time. i looked for something while earning 390. only left when i got something better. continued doing that with the next job. until i got a well earned salary at good company. i never just left knowing i had nothing else. i kept going
