𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐨𝐧 Dayvon Daquan Bennett (August 9, 1994 – November 6, 2020), known professionally as King Von, was an American rapper from Chicago, Illinois. He was widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in drill music, earning recognition for his vivid storytelling and lyrics inspired by his real-life experiences. Born and raised in Chicago, King Von was affiliated with the Black Disciples on the city's South Side. He began gaining attention in 2018 after signing with Lil Durk's Only the Family (OTF) label and releasing the hit single “Crazy Story,” which became one of his most successful songs and later received triple-platinum certification. His rise continued with projects such as Grandson, Vol. 1 (2019) and Levon James (2020), both of which charted on the Billboard 200. In 2020, he released the hit single “Took Her to the O,” another triple-platinum record that became one of the defining songs of his career. King Von released his debut studio album, Welcome to O'Block (2020), which achieved both commercial and critical success, peaking at number five on the Billboard 200 and earning platinum certification. His unique storytelling ability and authentic portrayal of street life made him one of the most respected voices in modern drill music. On November 6, 2020, King Von was fatally shot in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 26 following an altercation outside a hookah lounge. Despite his passing, his legacy continued through posthumous releases including What It Means to Be King (2022), which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, and Grandson (2023), his final album. King Von's impact on drill music remains significant, and his music continues to influence artists and fans around the world.
