The men of letters was cool if they did it correctly but they just rushed everything made it so dumb. Like Sam and dean had this cool facility with all these things and did nothing with it. They should have recruited hunters and recreated the men of letters. They had all this space and knowledge. The show should have ended with Sam being the leader of a new faction of men of letters.

I love the detail "at the very least" like they knew that the demon blade met the bare minimum requirements to kill a demon. they most likely knew about the angel blades, and possibly the first blade that cain used

Crazy thing is with the ending and the demon seal we see on Sam's son. It's highly possible that his son was also a Men of Letters starting the tradition again

my thing on this is the boys dad taught them to be hunters. but. there dad didn't hunt before there mom was killed by the yellow eye demon. that made him start hunting.
