Okay, quick one! I live in a property with 4 other occupants and the landlord. Our pumping machine developed a fault, and the landlord first hired technicians who tried to remove it but got it stuck. He paid them ₦150k 😂. He then hired another technician who successfully removed it and paid them ₦120k. The machine was beyond repair, so he bought a new one, paid for installation, and later asked each apartment to contribute ₦150k,all without carrying us along beforehand. Three months later, he replaced the planks supporting the GP tanks, changed three tanks and some pipes, and is now asking each flat to pay ₦380k. My question is: aren’t the pumping machine repairs/replacement, tanks and related works considered structural/common-property repairs, which should ordinarily be the landlord’s responsibility? Or are tenants expected to contribute to these costs

What if after the court case maybe it took about 3-6months to End, will the Tenant pay the extra 3-6months of rent ??

The law my brother is a yearly tenant his house rent will expire Dec but his landlord serve him a notice 15 August and to evacuate October 16th for a breach of agreement is the notice valid for a yearly tenant??? Mind you there is no agreement between them sign in paper.

But why does it seem that different courts are not as efficient as each other in disposing eviction cases. We have been trying to get a tenant out of an Abuja property for over a year now even though he signed an agreement to move out since the end of February. Or is the lawyer playing us?

I still don’t know why people feel entitled on someone property…. To build house is not easy. A lot of this people went through hell building that house.

Lovely message Law Castle! More power to your elbow. Thanks for giving all a legal guidance. Please tell them that they will also pay the 'Mesne Profit' and the 'Litigation Cost' of the Claimant, no matter for how long the case will last. So by and large, the loss is even more for the tenant than the landlord, except if/when the tenant was legally hurt by the landlord. Other than that, it'll be a from frying pan to fire situation for that tenant.
