I always felt so annoyed by her mom like there were so many rules that Laney had to follow and as a person who has a lot of rules from her parents at 22 years old, it’s a lot to keep up because you’re literally destroying yourself to make somebody else happy and then the fact of the matter that they don’t wanna see you happy the way that they should be wanting to see you happy instead they wanna see their version of happy in you is heartbreaking

Lanes mom remind me of Lorelei’s mom in the sense that most people see them as a villain. I see so much more conflict and complicated back stories. Both are a result of their upbringings, both are genuinely not trying to be a villains, and they both do love their daughters. They also lack the ability to express it the right way. However, they both show growth in the series.. you can see generational change happening slowly but surely… Mrs Kim does EVENTUALLY accept lane as she is… she just needed to learn how.
