if A say B is the thief, we can see D say B is not the thief, and A said C is lying, C lied about what? C lied about D first statement are wrong, so technically, D lied about B saying he is the thief, and C are not also the thief cus D said C first stament are true, so the thief are "D"

this took me a whole 20 minutes to solve... yes im slow The solution is C is the thief. A's first statement, “B is the thief,” is false, while A's second statement, “C is lying,” is true because C is the thief and therefore lies in both statements. B's first statement, “D is the thief,” is false, while B's second statement, “A is telling the truth,” is true under the intended interpretation. c is the thief explanation: because innocent can tell one true and one lie so let's look at A, the first statement cannot be true because then B is a theft and that mean C's first statement is a lie that make both B and C are the theft, but theft could only be one. So A's first statement is a lie and the second one is a true. Now look at B's first statement, it might be complicated but the first one is a lie and the second one is a true statement last but not list D. the first statement is a true because B second statement cannot be a lie because A is telling a true about C. so D second statement is a lie. that's how i solve this. im not explaining C because theft lie in both statement. if i make a mistake, pls let me know. ty

alr it might be D beacuse he know that A and B is saying that c is the thief but weirdly enough D is trying to defend him by saying "C first statement is true" and c first statement is him defending himself while D was also defending him self from what B say so for me its D why? beacuse D want to manipulates everyone that its not him and its C by defending him beacuse hes trying to be a reasonal people bc A and B don't really have any evidence that C is the thief and accusing him being the thief is vey suspicious kind of move so thats why D is trying to defend C so others see him as innocent beacuse hes being doubtful but still reasonal while also at the same time get all the suspicioun on him gone so that his safe while also making A and B feeling wrong while at same time manipulating C to help him if A and B were to accuse him in the future.

The key here for me is to follow the special rule: “Lying” refers to the person’s entire pair of statements. So if someone is innocent, they have one truth + one lie, meaning they are still technically “lying.” The thief has two lies.

Reason: B has 2 statements, “D is the thief”, “A is telling the truth”, C’s second statement said D’s first statement “B’s first statement is wrong”, but D’s second statement said “C’s first statement is true” A’s second statement said “C is lying” which immediately cancels C’s second statement, and A’s second statement is backed by B’s second statement, through basic knowledge we all know the one who tries to deny the most is the one who’s most likely to be the thief, which fits C’s first statement “I amnot the thief”.

Here's my deduction, what I understand is that in stations especially when conducting investigations. Suspects that are being questioned are questioned individually, but the four suspects knew each other's answer but that doesn't mean they were questioned at the same time but in fact the officers told each suspect what the other said. A's statement was that B is the thief and C is lying. Let's use the second statement C is lying, that meant that both of C's statements were false. B's statement stated that D was the thief and A was telling the truth. Which meant both of A's statements were correct but then it got me thinking. Why would B confess that he was the thief then I saw C and D's statements. C specified that he was not the thief which would be weird because he was denying straight up which was a little suspicious but then D said something very peculiar. In his second statement he said that C's first statement was the truth, intriguing right. Remember what A said"C is lying." now that interested me the most which meant C was lying but only on his second statement not the first since D backed it up. Remember C said D's first statement was false but that was said to be a lie which could mean that D's first statement was the truth. And D's first statement was that B's first statement was false which now was proven to be the truth. Which meant B was lying in his first statement. Haha and then B messed up when he said A was telling the truth. Because non of them denied anything that was said by A. which meant both of A's statements were true, then based on all this I came to one single conclusion. B is our THIEF!( there was a whole lot more but I got lazy.) Correct?😏😏
