⬇️ READ HER STORY ⬇️ The other day, I was told there was a dog at the shelter who was deaf and blind, and that she was an owner surrender. Sugar is only 1 and a half years old. Her family surrendered her because they said they couldn’t handle her because she is blind and deaf. But then, I found out they had her for an entire year, since she was just a five-month-old puppy…🥺 I don’t know what suddenly changed or why they could no longer keep her. All I know is that now, Sugar is heartbroken and all alone in such an unfamiliar and scary place. 💔 I went to meet her today and wanted to take her for a walk. As soon as I opened her kennel door, she came out so happy. Her tail was wagging, and she was so excited to have someone with her. She jumped up on my shoulders and kissed my face. ❤️ I didn’t know how it was going to be walking a blind and deaf dog. I’ve never done that before, but Sugar made it so easy.🥹 She is incredibly careful with her surroundings. She uses her nose to explore, sniffs everything, and is very good on a leash. I even let her off leash in an open space, and she carefully explored until she found the fence, using it to understand where she was. I don’t believe Sugar is completely blind. I think she may still see some light, shapes, or movement. Sometimes when I moved beside her, it almost seemed like she knew I was there. My heart breaks for her. Being blind and deaf will make it so much harder for her to find a family, especially in an overcrowded shelter. 😭💔 But Sugar doesn’t know she’s different. All she knows is that she misses having a family and a home of her own. I promised her today that I would use this video to help her find a family who will love and accept her exactly as she is. I hope I can keep my promise. 😭❤️ Maybe together, we can find someone willing to give Sugar the chance she deserves. ** It is unknown how she is around other animals or kids, so best thing to do is bring them for a meet and greet.
