@uknostalgia00: Back then in Britain, the power cuts came regularly in the 70s — whole evenings with no electricity, and every house kept candles in a drawer for exactly that. The telly died mid-programme, the whole street went black together, and you'd see other people's candles flickering in other people's windows. And the odd thing was, those were some of the best evenings we ever had. Cards by candlelight, shadow rabbits on the wall, the coal fire doing the rest.
