Do you know how many nights I’ve been kept awake by mistakes I’ve made, or the hurts I’ve been caused - too many to count… and that’s not how we’re meant to live. We can’t go through life wishing that every step we took was taken differently, it was taken for a reason. For you to better yourself, for you to become better, for you to help others become better… The things I have endured that I would never wish on anyone, the pain, the hurt, the depth of my sorrow, there are no words to describe how little hope i have had at certain points in my life. And here i am telling a snippet of my story through Mr Skelly and watching that radically change the world of so many people. I do not say this lightly. I am always taken aback when people share stories of change because of this little artwork, but it’s because I can’t imagine in a million years my life would ever amount to anything. I never could have saw that, by just staying here, all the things I ever endured might one day help someone else stay here a little longer. Please stay here. Please keep going. Forgiving oneself is a process, and it never ends. Every time your mistakes or regrets or poor choices resurface, you have to make the choice to forgive yourself; and sometimes that just isn’t possible in the moment. That’s okay. We can try again tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after that. I wish I could say it gets easier, but for me, that hasn’t been the case. But you know, when the world gets too much, remember that there are animals who will love you unconditionally regardless of your past, and there is grass to touch and ants to watch work, and clouds to spy shapes in.
