@tennessean_: As parking costs climb across Nashville, workers and residents say the added expense is creating challenges, fueling concerns about affordability and accessibility throughout the city. And while city leaders have launched initiatives aimed at improving transportation and reducing traffic congestion, including Mayor Freddie O'Connell's "Choose How You Move" plan, some residents worry Nashville is becoming less accessible to locals as parking costs rise. 📝Diana Leyva/The Tennessean 📹️Joanna Malvas & Diana Leyva/The Tennessean
Not just musicians. Your bar backs, folks working in anywhere downtown.

In Hawaii, they have a card for locals call the “Kama’aina” card. Local businesses and parking etc. offer deep discounts for long-term locals, especially due to the tourist industry. I wish Nashville would consider this, and parking businesses were required to offer affordable parking to long term residents.

More local businesses will close, their workers can't afford to park. Businesses can't afford expensive parking contracts

I live in spring hill. I don’t go to Nashville often because of parking. The prices are outrageous and a huge turn off for many people

I have lived here for 15 years. We no longer go downtown, even to have dinner. Ride share isn't helpful either. I can pay less than $20 to go downtown, but it can cost upwards of $100 to get home, less than 10 miles. We are unable to support local artists and restaurants because of this. But Nashville leaders don't care about residents, they care about tourists. Point blank period.

Nashville native unicorn here and sadly I do not go downtown anymore. It costs way too much to park, to go places, and is full of drunk people. The tourists can have it, I’ll do things in East Nashville.

I wanted to get tacos from Redheaded Stranger when I was in the area a couple weekends ago but left because they blocked off street parking and the only option was a paid lot that was $18 for one hour. It’s so ridiculous here now.
