🌵❤️ What if the very things we use to protect ourselves are keeping others from seeing the beauty within us? More than 30 years ago, when I was just 19 years old, I wrote a little story called The Cactus. It’s about a lonely cactus standing in the middle of a dry desert, covered in thorns, and a woman who discovers something beautiful beneath its prickly exterior. At 19, I understood the importance of looking beyond appearances and seeing the beauty in others. But now, after more than 30 years of life experiences, heartaches, love, loss, growth, and lessons learned, I see so much more in those words. I see the walls we build to protect our hearts. I see the longing to be understood, accepted, and loved for who we truly are. And I see how sometimes we can be both the cactus and the woman searching for something more. The most beautiful part? My original words haven’t changed. But the woman reading them today has. ❤️ This is the first of the poems and stories I’m sharing from my younger years, beginning with something I wrote at 19, now revisited through the eyes and life experiences of Momma J. My newest article is called: 🌵 The Cactus — Thorns Don’t Mean Beauty Doesn’t Exist Because sometimes the most beautiful flowers bloom among the sharpest thorns. And perhaps we all need a little reminder that we can bloom, thorns and all. 🌸❤️ 💕 Want to read the full story and reflection? 🌵 Facebook: Momma J’s Heart — A Window Into My Heart ❤️ My Substack blog: mommajsheart.substack.com If my words touch your heart, I’d love for you to follow along and share them with someone who might need a little encouragement. Have you ever felt like the cactus, protecting your heart while hoping someone would see the beauty within? ❤️ #MommaJsHeart #LifeLessons #InnerBeauty #SelfAcceptance #PersonalGrowth
