I believe that since the jury was not sequestered, outside influences like social media, and the pink ladies protesting outside of the courthouse, play a huge role in this as well. I think the judge made a huge mistake when he did not sequester the jury.

I don’t think it’s as clear as gender either… women can be very critical of other women. Also, a man could have had a mom or someone close who suffered PPP … It’s never that clean and cut.

I feel like there is a few for the not guilty by reason of insanity, and then the majority is probably for the 1st degree charges. And I don’t think anyone is going to budge on either side at this point.

I don’t think it’s about the gender, I think it’s about intelligence/ignorance of the jurors. There are people that literally don’t believe that mental illness exists. I’m not saying these jurors are that per se, but there are layers of what people believe. Some probably think or know that post partum or “the baby blues” exists, but would never believe that it can’t be fixed or that it could eventually lead to this situation.

I think having 5 options to vote for is a huge part of the problem. It could be a few people voting for each outcome and that makes it more messy and harder to come to concensus.

i believe we as a society need to understand that accountability & punishment are not synonymous….we as a culture need to evolve beyond wanting to create more suffering(ie punishing ppl through cruelty which is ultimately not healthy for our collective psyches.

I think it's easy to forget how deep the internal misogyny goes, especially when we refuse to acknowledge it in ourselves. Just listen to the bow twins. "Does this look like a depressed woman?" Why wouldn't a mother thinking, "that would NEVER happen to me," be randomly selected and present on the jury.

In my opinion, I think they’re stuck between not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. There are just too many things that give me reasonable doubt with the investigation, regardless if she admitted to doing this or not.

I'll keep saying this, European majority verdicts avoid all this hung jury issues i think they are locked on the lesser two charges and it needs the minority on those charges to cave and agree with the majority
