It features a bright yellow underside, an olive-green back, and a long, constantly twitching tail with white outer feathers. Head color and patterns vary significantly across its numerous subspecies. Habitat & Behavior: It inhabits damp meadows, marshes, riverbanks, and agricultural fields. Unlike most other wagtails, it is strongly associated with grazing livestock, often feeding on insects flushed out by cattle or sheep. Diet: Primarily insectivorous, feeding on flies, beetles, small caterpillars, and spiders caught on the ground or in low flight. Migration: It is a long-distance migratory bird. It breeds across temperate Europe and Asia and migrates to sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia for the winter. Nesting: It builds a cup-shaped nest on the ground, hidden among dense vegetation, laying 4–6 speckled eggs per clutch.
