Barnes groomed a teenage girl over WhatsApp between May and June 2014, sending explicit photos before sexually abusing her in Sevenoaks. Kent Police seized his mobile phone, recovering digital evidence that proved the grooming and sexual offences. Sentenced to 66 months in prison and the Sex Offenders Register for life, the two-thirds rule required Barnes to serve 44 months before licence release in April 2019.
