I’ve prayed before a “Marian Monstrance” before. I appreciate the symbolism and the theology, but I found it to be a little distracting. The latria owed to the blessed sacrament is distinct from the superdulia we give to Mary when we honor her image or icon. While honor to Mary does not take away from worship of God, I found the juxtaposition of the two to be confusing in this context. I do appreciate that many people like this monstrance and I don’t think it’s bad, it’s just not my preference for my own prayer.

I'm in a weird spot with religion lowk but Catholicism is so gorgeous, anytime I see a video of the churches, practices, saints, and all the gorgeous statues I'm always awestruck. Sometimes when my children are hurt or heartbroken I think of how it would be wonderful if I could keep them safe like they were in the womb for just another moment. I sometimes meditate on how Mary could have had those same thoughts as she was at the foot of the cross, praying that he could be safe with her once more. 💜 What a rich image this is, as she is in a way the mother of the Eucharist, carrying Him always in her heart as she once did in the womb.
