In 1980 the USS Nimitz had a chance to stop WW2. Just after 2 Japanese zeros sunk a civilian yacht the tomcats were forced to splash the zeros.

This was not the only time the two aircraft went head to head. The reality was that the rules of engagement usually determined the outcome. When it was within visual range at slower speeds and lower altitudes the F-14 had the advantage due to maneuverability. At higher altitudes and longer ranges the F-15 had the advantage. It’s higher thrust to weight and higher ceiling allowed it to reach the high ground quicker. The two were designed for different missions. I’ve always been partial to the F-14 and arguably it may have been the better. But it was a bitch to maintain, meaning expensive. The ultimate proof of the better design is the fact the F-15 is not only still in service, it’s back in production.

F14s are designed for fleet defense, its an interceptor to carry as much missiles to shoot down enemies from long distances. It is heavy & complicated for carrier operations. F15 is an air superiority fighter to be better than any rival. Pilots who don't use its limits, lose.

Israel did test F-14 vs. F-15. Which did they choose? F-14 frame isnt a dogfighter and cant even pull 9gs. Top enemy aircraft it downed was a Mig-23. Eagles have taken down Mig-29s.
