can we like change the name from purple prose. because the media literacy crisis is making purple prose sound way too cute. like oh my God my purple prose. oh man it's so purple. I love it. can we actually just say like?, needlessly complex maybe? can we say the prose was? extremely dense but without substance? can we say the author here spent 15 paragraphs to say that the person tied their shoe? can we say that this person who wrote this paragraph has never seen the thing that they are talking about or done any research on it?? like I feel like purple prose just sounds too nice. and people are just ignoring the fact that like purple prose actually sucks to read. like you look at it and you're fucking brains glosses over. because there's nothing happening it's just like it's basically just like key. smashing a bunch of different words together because you like the sound of them. but it doesn't actually do anything. it doesn't convey any information. and the more you try to read into it the more confusing it is because it's not connected. it's just bad grammar. it's just bad writing. purple prose is bad writing. that's all it is.

These comments being obtuse as hell 😭 You should not be using too many adjectives and metaphors and what constitutes as “too many” is subjective but when you reach that limit then you are also going to hate it and consider it purple prose

Idk purple prose sucks as a concept because frankly there’s a fine line between something eloquent and clever and something needlessly complex, and there have been times I’ve seen people call some amazing language purple prose
