I have worked on food photoshoots, and (at least in the UK) you have to follow strict rules about how different the food can look from the real product. It's such a nonsense argument to compare that careful process with someone generating an (ugly) photo which looks nothing like their product whatsoever

If a brand hires specialists to make the food look appealing in the ads you know that they’ve put effort in to appeal to their customers, AI generated stuff is just lazy

Food in adverts where they’ve used effects to make it look better but it’s still modelled and created by a person whereas the AI slop you see getting knocked up on Gemini or ChatGPT is literally just 0’s and 1’s with the only human interaction being someone typing in a command
