Yukari Tanizaki :
Brilliant video. Now let’s start with the avatar, we can see Natsuki from DDLC dressed as Natsuki Subaru from Re: Zero. Because it is not entirely one or the other, it could be interpreted as the feeling of being lost or lack of a proper identity. The avatar does not know what it wants to be or what it is, hence it not having a singular identity but instead being a mixture of both. Its face is covered, symbolizing how it lacks identity as the eyes are the gateway to the soul, covering of the eyes = the disappearance of identity. Then there is the content of the video, we can see that as the avatar gets higher and higher the songs progressively become less and less known. This can be interpreted as a critique of the current state of mediatok, and how instead of being about media it is instead a competition of which is better, and being niche. The less known songs being tied with how high the avatar gets on the tower shows how mediatok associates obscurity with superiority, the level of the tower = class/superiority, and the song = obscurity, obscurity = superiority is what this video is trying to say. So, in conclusion, this video is not just showing popular songs used amongst mediatok, but instead is a visualization and critique of the current state of mediatok and how bobody has an identity outside of being niche. However, this is just my interpretation, let me know what you guys think🧐
