@wolfstudiosnyc: One of the challenging parts of developing your mix voice can be knowing what you’re actually looking for. Mix can feel different from singer to singer, but one useful sensation to explore is the feeling of talking on pitch—keeping the voice connected to a familiar, speech-like level of coordination rather than adding more weight or volume as you move higher. The goal is to maintain balance as you move through your range: consistent airflow, efficient vocal fold closure, and enough freedom that you aren’t pushing your chest voice higher or allowing the voice to suddenly disconnect into a lighter coordination. That doesn’t mean your mix has to literally sound like speaking. Think of it as a way to find a feeling of ease, stability, and connection while moving through the bridge. Try the exercise in the video and pay attention to what happens as you move higher. Can you keep the same sense of balance without pushing, squeezing, or getting louder? With consistent vocal training, these coordinations become easier to recognize—and eventually easier to access when you’re singing songs. Want to develop a stronger, more connected mix voice?
