@cleanspaceclearmind_: Took the advice and made some much-needed changes for our little guy 🫧🐟🩵 ✓ Tested the water before ✓ Did a 30% water change ✓ Conditioned the fresh water before adding it back ✓ Added a thermometer ✓ Added a hiding spot ✓ Swapped the plastic plants for live plants 🌱 ✓ Added the betta beads ✓ Tested the water afterwards A few more helpful tips I learned for next time: • Use vinegar to wipe anything down and rinse well • Use a gravel vacuum to clean debris from the gravel • Change out filter or polyester can be used in the filter • Add heater to keep water warm and stable 🐟🌡️ Still learning as we go and taking all the helpful advice we can get! 🤍✨ #fishtank #betta #cleaningasmr #cleaningmotivation #clean

Java fern and anubias are not meant to have the roots buried. Glue them to a piece of driftwood

it's a good thing you're trying to improve but take the fake wood hide out, it's green fluff will release itself into the water

WAIIIT QUEEEN those plants are root feeders basically and can not be planted or they could die. These specific plants are great but should be glued or suction cupped to a surface to let the rooots sit above the gravel. Try super gluing the base stem to the back of the castle or log!

I was gonna say that it’s progress but then you added orbeez 😭 Btq Bettas need atleast 5 gallons but if you do 10 gallons it’ll be easier to maintain. Also This is what a proper tank is supposed to look like:

Not hate- some blue balls in the filter and fluval stratum bottom so your plants don’t die and it’s better for fish!

You did such a good job! Just a tip, test strips aren’t very reliable. API water master kit is the best and it’ll last you years

Try the liquid test kits … the strips are pretty unreliable

Those blue ball things arent worth it. A better alternative is seacham stability! Same thing but much more safer and more effective

I love that you are trying to do everything you can for you fish but the Internet will almost always tell you that what you are doing is killing your fish. Everyone has advice. Everyone thinks what they do is best. I’ve had bettas for over a decade and I refuse to ever post about them or give advice because I’m just a drop in the bucket. You’re doing great. You’ve given him more than a bowl. That’s better than half the people I see on here.

People have loads of opinions and they're not necessarily wrong, but some are just extra, in my opinion. Don't worry about the substrate, your gravel is fine. I have six aquariums and I use gravel in two. No issues. And it is much easier to clean, in my opinion. The plants with rhyzomes do need to be above the substrate, but you can let them free float or use glue on driftwood, or even use fishing line or cotton thread to hold them to rocks. The API testkit is awesome and I do use it, but I also use the strips when I'm in a hurry. I honestly don't see much of a difference. And if those strips have gh and kh, keep them, the test kit from API does not. I would say your little fish friend will love more plants. Bettas do use plants for hiding, and they love swimming in them and resting on the leaves when they're near the top of the water line. One last thing, now that you are getting live plants, if you haven't already, you will need plant fertilizer. I like the API one myself, but there are so many to choose from. I think your tank looks great and your fish is beautiful. The most important thing is to have fun and learn. You'll be a pro in no time. Welcome to the hobby! 💕

Just get a heater so the temperature is 25 degrees and also take out the pearls and when you changing the the water just go watch a YouTube tutorial because you can’t just take everything out and clean the whole thing
