I trained my boy using mostly hand signals and talking in almost a whisper I did that because I don't like talking very loud, and he cqn heart me just fine He's 8 months old, knows over 20 commands, kennel trained, potty trained, and working on being neutral since he's a working breed lol He is so eager to work, but only for me lmao

I have a rescue Pyrenees mix, and that dog is a wonderful little creature. But good god. She does not listen to anyone but HER people. Rosie will follow the direction of a 6year old girl. So long as it’s my sister. She will see some rando in our house and proceed to follow them around barking or growling, and if they say ANYTHING she talks over them😭 I also trained her almost exclusively by whistle tones, so she listens to those before any verbal commands. Lay down. *continues to do something. Whistle.*perfect recall and heel every time

my hound / gsd is SMART he is going to question and weigh my command. the hound in him has to decide if what i'm asking is valid. my cattle dog WANTS to do what's asked, but he was adopted at 2, he's still learning what i'm asking

and see there is a difference my boy just doesn't like going to his outdoor area while I go to work he would prefer to be an inside pup because he did that before we moved and had an out yard so really it's not stubbornness it's training he stopped being stubborn once I introduce treats

my dog is a Papillon, known for their trainability and smarts. Someone else tells him to do anything other than sit, lie down or paw he's likely to not listen (especially because he learnt most people give in and just reward him for sitting after a few attempts to get him to do something more advanced) that doesn't make him stubborn, he just works smarter not harder, why do the fancy tricks if you feel the person is just going to give you the reward for sitting? he knows to listen to me because if he doesn't do the fancy trick I asked then he doesn't get the treat

My dog's main command (pay attention to me) isn't a word at all, its a noise (two of a sound) so randos would NOT know how to get his attention. I use it like half for treats half for cuddles and then a little bit to start other commands

If I’m on a walk and I want to go one way and my dog wants to go another way he will refuse to walk and when I force him to he mopes walking slowly the whole time 😭

My old dog was absolutely stubborn her recall was really good. Until there was something she wanted. Then she just looked at me and walked away…. She also could do lots of tricks, but if I didn’t have a good enough treat she sat down and refused to listen. If I got a good treat then suddenly she knew all the tricks again
