@armeade: September is NICU Awareness Month. 🤍 Being a NICU Momma is something I never expected to be part of my story. Having your baby in the NICU is scary, overwhelming, and emotional in a way that is hard to explain unless you've lived it. Instead of simply bringing your baby home, you learn a whole new world of monitors, medical terms, alarms, and waiting. But in the middle of one of the most difficult times of our lives, we were surrounded by some truly incredible people. I will forever be thankful for the NICU nurses who cared for Leo when I couldn't be the only person caring for him. They didn't just take care of our baby, they took care of us, too. They answered our questions, celebrated every little milestone, reassured us when we were scared, and loved on our little boy when we needed it most. You never forget the people who helped care for your baby during such a vulnerable time. This month is for all of the tiny fighters, the NICU graduates, the babies still fighting, the families who have spent countless hours beside an isolette, and the incredible nurses and medical teams who become part of their stories.
