There seems to be a lot of rules when it comes to harvesting rhubarb 😅🌱🌈🌻 Here are my tips for harvesting rhubarb the right way to keep your plants healthy and cropping. 🌱 Harvest a stem when it’s at least 25cm and the leaf has opened out. 🌱 Never cut rhubarb. This method leaves the bottom of the stalk on the plant, which can rot and infect the plant. Instead, pull & twist the stem, removing the stem entirely. This keeps the plant healthy, and it stimulates the plant to produce another stem, so you’ll have a bigger harvest. 🌱 Only harvest when your plant is well established, so give it one growing season to get settled in. 🌱 Only ever harvest maximum two thirds of the plant at once. 🌱 Slow down your harvests in July to ensure they can build up energy reserves for the winter. 🌱 Don’t eat the leaves!
