On average money doubles ever 10 years. at the end of 40 years you have $120k. this is nice but nearly enough to retire on, especially when inflation is factored in. Roth is a powerful tool but dollar cost averaging into an idea fund or growth mutal fund is where it is at. once you get to around 20k open a brokerage and get a financial advisor to help you beat market returns.

And you could put the same money in a Roth, yes Roth 401k. With the same tax free growth, and possibly “free” company money match for some or all of that in tax deferred money, to get way more at the bottom line.
