@djsuspectzambia: CARELESS STATEMENTS COST NRPUP THE ELECTION By Alfred Chimba 3rd September, 2026 UPND Special Assistant-Mobilization in the Secretary General’s Office, Michael Chuzu, has blamed the opposition’s loss in the August 2026 general election on carelessness in the way they issued public statements. Speaking on Crown TV's Spotlight program, Chuzu said the opposition failed to manage their messaging and ended up alienating voters instead of winning them. “We want to tell the truth. The way you go about this country matters,” Chuzu said. “What cost the opposition this election was their carelessness in issuing statements. You can’t just speak anyhow and at any time and expect people to trust you with government.” He argued that leadership requires discipline, strategy, and respect for the people, adding that Zambians were looking for a president with a sober and measured approach. Chuzu said the UPND’s victory was built on clear communication, listening to citizens, and presenting policies that address real challenges. He added that while politics involves sacrifice, leaders must not use threats or reckless language. The UPND mobilization official concluded that the opposition still has an opportunity to reorganize, but only if they first take responsibility for their mistakes and change how they engage the public. The Electoral Commission of Zambia declared President Hakainde Hichilema winner of the presidential race on 18th August 2026
