You want to know what 90% of the problems with them was? Bad glow plugs and controllers along with shade tree mechanics that had no clue about them. “Duurrr!, it wont start when it’s cold! It’s worn out! I’m going only going to spray 1/2 can of starting fluid in it!”. 🤷♂️

Idk man I had a 6.5 in my first flatbed and it snapped the crank on the stock engine and the gmp replacement. And to add that the PMD shitting the bed every 6-8 months.

That an old millitary truck? If so, they didn’t get the same 6.2/6.5’s us civilians did. They were stronger and didn’t have the same issues the civilian versions did.

The 6.2 was choked from the factory. Even the last 4 years where they were equipped with Banks turbos they had too much compression and too little boost. Fix that and you have a winner.
