@lifeonredranch: We also reached out to the people we got him from and they’re also stumped. He’s now with the ewes in hopes that gets him moving. It doesn’t. #icelandicram #icelandicsheep

He looks thin even under his wool. I’d bet he has a worm load. Check his eyelids I’d bet they are pale.

If he’s tender on his feet, could be a sign of possible laminitis or founder. Feel for heat in the hoof/pastern region. If there’s no tenderness, I would treat aggressively with antibiotics and Safegaurd, acute pneumonia can present like that, so can parasite overload.

Pull down the lower eyelid. Pale pink, white, or gray membranes indicate severe anemia, often from a heavy barberpole worm load.

Possibly PEM, but it costs so much to test for theybusually wait until they've passed. However, it is treated with a simple thiamine (B1) injection and if it is PEM, he should improve in 12-24 hours. And its cheap to drench for worms, too

Looks like it could be pneumonia! I have had a few sheep act like this before. I would get him a good dose of Draxxin or Resflor. See if you vet can give you banamine and steroids to help.

Multiple things could be going on: shipping fever would be first thought. That could cause a worm bloom. What’s his temp? I would treat with antibiotics for pneumonia (it can be silent) and deworm with two classes of dewormer. Thiamine/vitamin B complex every day. You can also try a warm stout beer like a Guinness every day. Ground a cooked sweet potato down with Greek yogurt and feed everyday. They go down fast and most vets no nothing about sheep and goats. Act quickly.

maybe its stress from the move? I've never had sheep, only goats, but sometimes they'd get stressed about moving locations. if the vet is stumped thats not good either. maybe try treats and pets? did he have a buddy at the other place? hope you figure it out and he feels better soon!

did he get wormed recently? did you get a fecal done? did he have a sudden feed change? if so from what to what? if he's going from hay to lush pasture, or suddenly getting a higher carb concentrate, do his feet seem sore? is he chewing cud? is he eating at all? if he's not, I've had luck getting appetite back in my goats with giving b vitamins. his posture makes me lean towards him being in pain, but I didn't see enough of how he was moving to tell if it's tummy or foot or something else. if my goats' coats looked like his, I would suspect mineral or nutrient deficiency. possibly from wormload, or possibly just lack of minerals or food, a fecal would help. I would need to know where the pain is coming from for me to make the next care decisions in one of mine. or at least rule feet in or out. do they feel hot? are they sore?

Polio is my guess. Thiamine shots or B complex.

If the vet didn’t do a fecal or famacha check on a small ruminant you need another vet. That should be the first check. If those were good then id make sure its not foot rot or matting. If he is treated with antibiotics id give probiotics and red cell. Plus vit b complex and selenium

Fecal, deworming, loose minerals. Polio treatment. Take him back to the vet. They missed something

your dealing with parasites...check his famacha treat or he's going to 4 hooves up. you may need to supplement iron and b the parasites are taking everything he has

I would think about Meningeal worm if you’re in a white tailed deer area. Polio would be my other thought

I’d hit him with everything. B complex protocol, selenium, iron, drench, I’d do a dual dewormer, and provide molasses/sugar tea water. He needs energy so his body can fight whatever is going on. Does he act blind when you go to swat at his eyes?
