@michaeltothemax: One of the hardest things to accept after somebody deeply hurts you is that life may not appear to punish them for it. You look at what happened and think, “They caused all this damage, yet I’m the one paying for it.” You’re the one who can’t sleep. You’re the one sitting in therapy. You’re the one struggling to trust again. Meanwhile, they appear to be doing just fine. Maybe they’re with somebody new. Maybe they got married, started a family, or became successful while you’re still trying to repair what they broke. It feels unbelievably unfair. They created the wound, yet you got the scar. They made the choices, yet you got the consequences. I’m not going to insult your intelligence by pretending that any of this is fair. It isn’t. I’m also not going to tell you that they’re secretly miserable, their new relationship will collapse, or that someday something bad will happen to them for the things they did. Maybe it will. Maybe it won’t. Neither of us actually knows, and to pretend otherwise would be inauthentic. Here’s what I do know: you cannot make your recovery dependent upon their punishment. If you need their life to fall apart before you can feel whole again, then they still control your life. Every smiling picture feels like another injustice. Every success feels like proof that they won. Every relationship milestone feels like evidence that they got away with everything. Their apparent happiness doesn’t erase what they did. Getting married doesn’t prove somebody is emotionally healthy. Having children doesn’t certify somebody’s character. Being successful doesn’t mean somebody is honest, decent, or capable of taking responsibility. People can build lives that look wonderful from the outside while never confronting what they’ve done to others. Please hear this: needing therapy doesn’t mean they won. Struggling doesn’t make you stupid. Trusting somebody who betrayed you doesn’t make you foolish. Loving somebody honestly is nothing to be embarrassed about. The shame belongs with the deception, not with the person who believed the lie. Therapy isn’t your punishment. Therapy is you refusing to let what happened control the rest of your life. Healing doesn’t excuse them. It doesn’t erase the damage or mean it wasn’t that bad. Healing means they don’t get any more of you. I understand why letting go can feel like letting them get away with it. You may feel as though your anger is the last remaining evidence that you were wronged. You can remember what happened without continuing to live inside it. You can call what they did wrong without making their pain your permanent home. Walking away from the courtroom in your mind doesn’t mean they were acquitted. It means you’re finished serving a life sentence for somebody else’s crime. Maybe consequences will catch up with them. Maybe their life will continue to look wonderful. Either way, your assignment remains the same: get your life back. Not to make them jealous. Not to prove what they lost. Not so they’ll come crawling back with an apology. Get your life back because it belongs to you. You are not required to remain broken as evidence that they hurt you. Your misery will never punish them enough to heal you. What happened may always be part of your story, but it does not have to become the ending. Their future is about what they choose to do. Your healing is about what you choose to do next. #healing #breakup #selfrespect #SelfCare

My ex literally moved on with his ex that he cheated on me with and they are literally living their best life. They got engaged too. Meanwhile I’m suffering and karma hitting me as if I did him wrong….but I guess life just ain’t fair for some people

Nothing bad ever happens to them. I use to believe you reap what you sow. But it never happens.

it's ok. I wish him the best honestly. I wasn't the one he wanna marry, I also need to leave for myself. I hope he meets someone he will want to marry one day. even if I never meet another, that's fine too. don't wanna spend my days hating. it's too painful. or keep thinking I wasn't good enough when I know I am

A year later I finally saw pictures of his wedding that happened only 4 months after he told me he loved me. It was literally a perfect wedding. That day I stayed in bed until 6pm and had dinner at IKEA where I ugly cried in the parking garage. It still stings. I can’t believe I’m on the journey where everyone is telling me I need to love myself and he literally got everything he wanted.

As an autistic person with a strong sense of justice, I can’t let it go, no matter how hard I try. He got away with it with zero consequences and the unfairness of it all consumes me 😞

It’s not dependent but it’s not fair. I’m sitting here wondering what I did wrong to not be loved and he’s married to the girl he cheated on me with and had all the things i wanted.

Honestly, I hope she is spared. I actually prayed for it, several times to be so. I know what she did was wrong, and it was extremely painful. But if it all circled back around, the cycle would perpetuate. At least, so it would seem. If she is out there, and she is happy, good.

This is what I finally excepted a few day ago: I have the wound, the scar that I will carry my whole life. Of course they are fine. It freed me because I don't expect them to wake up one day and realize they left me bleeding. It not how it goes. Letting go of that expectation is freedom.

5 months post discard after 6 years and he dropped me and my children for another woman and her children. I have lost my career, health and he is blissfully happy. I am in therapy and working on myself. I’m not an angry person and never have been but the injustice of it all stings. I am no contact and off all socials, I’m 56 and prior to this man was alone for 10 years and raised my kids after my abusive husband left. I told this man I had peace and not to entering he did not mean it, I was told he was my go too and I opened myself up only to be coercively controlled, financially abused and dropped when I started to hold him accountable. Narcassistic abuse should be a crime. I think it’s deeply unfair by whatever higher power there is that people exist like this and are allowed to live their best lives whilst the survivors are left with lasting damage. I will never forgive him and when I die me and whatever divine power there is shall be having words about the life I was given.

I caused the chaos and betrayed my ex.. It has been a few months since we separated and I am so sorry for what I did.. There is no way that I can just get up and dust myself off.. I am experiencing the most intense grief and there is no way I am looking to avoid this suffering which I caused.. my ex deserves happiness.. I however, am faced with myself and the consequences of what I did.. and it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through… with no end in sight…

This is makes me so fucking angry because it makes complete sense! 😭 But, I'm still pissed! I'm still hurt! I still want him to suffer! He left me 11 years ago for someone else because in his words, being famous was more important than being with me. They're married, he walks the red carpets with her and I'm still alone and miserable and don't know how not to be. 😭
