@history: Gloria Steinem spent more than six decades championing women's rights in the United States. She began working as a writer and journalist in the 1960s and went on to become one of the most iconic voices of the women's movement. Steinem co-founded Ms. magazine and the National Women's Political Caucus and advocated for the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment, challenging generations to reconsider women's roles in politics, the workplace, media and society. In 2013, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her lifetime of activism. Today, we remember Gloria Steinem.
