unfortunatly there is no avoiding moon face ... also you will also feel like you have a bottomless pit at the end of your stomach no amount of food made me feel full

My daughter has been on prednisolone since November 2024 for Crohn's. in January this year two discs in her back collapsed fracturing her spine. she spent nine weeks in hospital. She had to learn to walk again and now needs a wheelchair. Nobody told us steroids weaken your bones. Her life has been changed forever 😥

I’ve been on up to 80mg before. At any dose at or above 10mg, the moonface happened. Prednisone saved my life, but it’s got a tough side effect profile. I’m covered in striae that are permanent, bone density issues, had a lot of weight gain even whilst trying to monitor diet etc. But girl it was worth living. Good luck ♥️

I made a compromise with my doctor and tried a diff steroid called budesonide. It has less side effect chances than prednisone. Worth asking about

Beware of the after effects of steroids , if you’re only short term you should be okay but steroid withdrawal is something no one told me about 😭

I’ve been on prednisone (10mg daily) for four years. I avoid sugar and eat whole grains, only, for my carbs.

everyone says “no way to avoid it” but i’ve been on prednisone for about 2 months and have done nothing but lose weight, so there is hope that you won’t swell up. not everyone is the same :)

I did not get Moon Face, probably due to genetics, but I did Drink tons of water and I didn‘t eat processed foods (my pain would flare up Like Crazy) however what I did get was Osteoporosis at 29 so be careful yall

No way to avoid unfortunately. I've been off steroids for 6 months and I spoke to my specialist who said it can take years to come down 😭

I genuinely don’t think there is one as it’s part of how it works unfortunately. I was on 40mg for 2 years and my face physically hurt with how swollen it was
