@karina_na_more: Does your stomach get more bloated by the end of the day? Do you constantly feel heaviness, pressure, or abdominal distension? Sometimes the reason isn’t just digestion or excess gas. In gastroenterology, there’s a condition called abdominophrenic dyssynergia. This is when the abdomen visibly pushes outward even though there may not actually be more gas in the intestines. The issue can be in how the muscles of your core work together and how pressure is distributed inside your abdomen. Think of your torso as one connected cylinder: At the top — the diaphragm. At the bottom — the pelvic floor. In the front and sides — the abdominal muscles. In the back — the spinal and lower-back muscles. Normally, this system works together. When you inhale, the diaphragm moves down, the ribs expand, the pelvic floor responds to the change in pressure, and the abdomen moves naturally with the breath. But if you have an excessive anterior pelvic tilt, an exaggerated lower-back curve, too much tension in the pelvic floor, or limited rib-cage mobility, this system can start working differently. Instead of pressure being distributed evenly, more of it can shift forward. The abdomen then looks more protruded, and you may feel heaviness or pressure. With abdominophrenic dyssynergia, the basic idea is this: the diaphragm pushes downward while the front abdominal wall doesn’t manage that pressure efficiently, so the belly pushes forward more. That’s why simply doing more ab exercises isn’t always the answer. The goal is to work with the whole system: improve mobility in the pelvis and rib cage, reduce unnecessary tension, improve breathing mechanics, and help the core muscles work together again. That’s exactly what these movements are designed to do: gently work with the pelvis, improve mobility, and help distribute pressure more efficiently through the torso. If you want to work on your body more deeply, I invite you to join Marathon 4.0. It was created specifically to address these issues and work on your overall body alignment. Still have questions?
