I’ve been asking my husband for a while to repair a damaged spot on the duck/geese run from the last big storm. It wasn’t a small repair, and with the cost of wood and supplies, I knew it was something we really couldn’t afford to do right now. Saturday morning he told me, “I’m going to fix the coop today.” I asked him where he was getting the wood. He just looked at me and said, “Don’t worry about it.” A little while later, his friend came over and they started measuring and cutting wood. I walked down into the basement/garage and realized where the wood was coming from. My husband was taking apart his own workbenches. Screw by screw. Benches he used. Benches that were his. And he was tearing them apart so he could use the wood to fix a safe place for animals that are technically “mine”… simply because he knows how much they mean to me. He worked until dark Saturday and went right back to it Sunday, making sure every piece was secure and my babies were safe. I stood there watching him and honestly got emotional. Because this is what love looks like to me. Not always flowers. Not always expensive gifts. Not always grand gestures. Sometimes it’s a man quietly sacrificing something of his own because something matters to his wife. He could have told me we needed to wait. He could have said we couldn’t afford it. He could have gotten frustrated that I kept asking. Instead, he found a way. He tore apart something he had for himself… to protect something I love. And I don’t think I’ll ever look at that duck run again without thinking about how deeply that man loves me. That coop is going to mean so much more to me now. It isn’t just wood and screws anymore. It’s proof that I married a man who will always find a way to take care of the things that matter to me. Sometimes the smallest-looking acts of love are actually the biggest ones. ❤️❤️ #causejackiesaidso #homestead
