My father was the one who broke the news to me, but I didn't believe him at first—my immediate reaction was, "Nah, this has to be a hoax." He replied, "Well, that's what they're saying on the news." I turned on the TV, and sure enough, the news anchor confirmed that MJ had passed. It was such a jarring moment that completely caught me off guard, and I was definitely in my feelings upon the realization. Even now, it still feels surreal at times because his music was such an integral part of my childhood. Back then, his music video releases were absolute cultural events, and I still vividly remember tuning in to watch those premieres live.
