My dad lived in a commune. In the 60’s before I was born. He was a hippie. He told me it was foolish because while he was farming, many others squatting didn’t contribute Jack shit. A fine idea, but the 10% working ass off for the 90% that didn’t do shit. He taught me all I needed to know about that structure. That’s why I’m a Republican now.

Stone age people figured out that a symbolic system of value exchange is better than a straight barter system. Why can these people not? 😂

Capitalism boiled down to its fundamentals is just a barter economy. Coinage was invented as a way to barter more effectively. instead of saying "I'll give you 10 chickens for a pig", you can now say "I'll buy your pigs for $100 each"
