@travis.woo.trades: The trading system I wanted wasn’t the one with the prettiest backtest. I wanted something that could survive. Low time commitment. Highly liquid markets. Simple execution. And rules robust enough to work across different assets and market regimes. That matters because many strategies look incredible for a while, then disappear once they become crowded or stop scaling. So instead of optimizing for the highest historical return, I care more about questions like: Does it work across multiple assets? Do nearby parameters still work? Does it survive out-of-sample testing? Can it scale without completely changing the strategy? Nothing works forever with certainty. But I’d rather build for robustness than perfection. The goal isn’t to create the most impressive backtest. It’s to create something I might still trust years from now.
