@aprnbeauty_81: Schools need more accountability! They’ve totally shifted the burden into students and this is unacceptable! #nursegang #nursepractitioner #npstudent #nursesinthenews #fypシ

Sorry but preceptors need to get paid. It’s a lot to take in a student on top of your job. I’ve never made any money on students but we should get paid by the school. The schools make millions

I take students for free because "each one teach one". Expecting payment, to me, is egregious. We need more providers. We were all students once and we know what it's like. I never want to be on the wrong side of this

Also find out if your program allows for PAs to be your preceptors. I had a great PA that precepted me.

Yep, you have to know people unfortunately. 90% of my preceptors came from who I knew and networking . Networking is key.

Hate to be this person but this is yet another reason to get some experience before you advance your degree. More time to work and network with future preceptors.

I had a preceptor prior to starting my program. Fortunately, I was working in nursing leadership and had plenty of nurses that I worked with who became nurse practitioners. My last rotation was in-patient, and it was so hard to find someone who worked in-patient for psych. I had to end up paying a company to provide me a preceptor so I could graduate.

I think if you're gonna be a school that offers a degree that requires clinicals, they should place you with preceptors. that should be the bare minimum.

I had to pay thousands for my LCSW preceptor. And I didn’t even like her. Imagine paying someone you don’t like thousands of dollars you don’t have to spend lol

I couldn’t find a women’s health preceptor one semester and was only able to secure one in a town 8 hours away. I had to travel over there and stay for a week and a few days just to get my hours.

My brick & mortar school provided this. Every school should be required to provide this.

Not true. I go to a traditional state university and we still have to find our clinical placements. On top of that, preceptors know they can get paid for this so they wont do it unless its through one of those paid companies. I was even referred to one of these companies by a potential preceptor 😩

There’s nothing wrong with an online nurse practitioner program. It just has to be a well-known or a Brick & Mortar school like a major university type of school or a school that’s regional known in your state. Nowadays a lot of Brick & Mortar schools have online programs or hybrid programs.

Not true at all! Brick and mortar, online, it doesnt matter schools should be held accountable! Its funny that they dont seperate brick and mortar or online when it comes to thousands of dollars in tuition!! I have completed both and had to find my own preceptors!

T really needs to be standardized like PA and med school. Between the wasted time and stress, it takes a big focus off of actually learning. More regulation and school accountability is needed, and all programs need to be the same- if they don’t allow paying a third party to find a preceptor, then those exploitative companies won’t keep popping up
