@julie.logan.reece: People love to call this the “terrible twos” but what’s actually happening is actually a really important stage of development. Before turning two, nap time with baby Reece was pretty simple. But after turning two? Suddenly he has very specific opinions about how it all needs to happen lol! He has a certain way he wants to get into his crib, specific things he needs with him, and nap time turns into a game instead of just going right into his bed. Around this age, toddlers start developing a stronger sense of independence and control over their world. They know how they want things to go, but they’re still learning how to regulate all the big emotions that come when something doesn’t happen the way they expected. It’s not bad behavior. It’s learning, growing, and testing independence in one of the safest places they know. Did anyone else notice a huge shift around nap time after their toddler turned two? #baby #toddlerlife #toddlermom #motherhood #parenting

Idkkk my son might be a unicorn. I ask him at the same time every day if he’s sleepy and he says yes and we start walking towards his room. He jumps into his bed and it’s a wrap for 2.5 hours 🩵

I started telling my 2 year old that he doesn’t have to take a nap, he just has to lay down and play with his hotwheels! I give him 2, and he dozes off in 15 min 😂

We call it “quiet time” cause she ends up falling asleep but so she doesn’t freak out when I say nap lol

Keep it same every day. We ate lunch and we went to bed. I went to my bed the kids went to their beds. GOLDEN HOUR so for 1 hour they had to stay in their rooms. Only books and stuffed animals in the rooms. After an hour if they were asleep they keep sleeping…if not we came out and went on with the day. 99% of the time they were asleep. Stops it from being a power struggle

My girl is 22 months, she stopped napping at 20 months. Bedtime is SO much easier now. When she napped, bedtime was 1.5-2 hours of fits and shenanigans. Without naps, she lays down without a fuss and is asleep in less than 15 minutes. Last week she fell asleep in the car in the afternoon and sure enough, it was a 2 hour battle at bedtime. No more naps for us!

idk why but my daughter never fought me over bedtime. she never screamed and cried for anyone when leaving us or the grandparents. she was like a little old lady who liked her routine. she's 19 now and hasn't changed lol

When I started saying “quite time in your room” meltdowns don’t happen and he naps😅. I’m just saying he’s 3 almost 4 and still naps 😌

It helps to let them know it’s coming multiple times like 10-5 minutes ahead of time.

mines the opposite. she's two and I tell her go take a nap and she will proudly run and jump into her bed and go to sleep, but she's smart AF she already potty trained herself. before two she would through fits at nap time.
