parallel parking is irrelevant in most drivers lives. happy that a good amount of driving programs removed it from driving tests, it's a waste of time

Problem is you often don't have the room to take the extra space to be able to park this way. Just stick to the standard way: stay in the adjacent lane and pull up until your door lines up with the door of the car behind which you want to park, then back up. when your door lines up with the back of that car, start turning by cutting inwards. Then when your rear is about 2 feet from the curb, start cutting the other way and make adjustments until you're fully parked.
