You need a fuel that burns better than wood to get it going. I use used vegetable oil in a couple egg carton cups. Tear up the lid over the cups to act as a wick for the oil and that shit will *burn*. Assuming you got dry wood, anyway. Otherwise it’s just a kinda crappy oil lamp

Your trying to light a log 🤦♂️light tinder first (small bits of wood) cardboard is great fire starter as burns hotter and longer then paper. I used toilet rolls but put two inside one so have 3 in one and away you go lol

kindling in a jinga style(in a box). chuck some newspaper in the middle and a bit of cardboard. then I put some smaller bits of wood on top. boom. and iv only had a fire in my house for 3 months and I have it down Pat now

don’t know if you drink tea but if you do dry your teabags and soak in a jar of methylated spirits, then check one or two in your fire you have an amazing fire super quick
