this!!! so many people use the same arguments that they used in the past for other progressive activists. and they always say they’d be on the right side of history but they’re not comfortable going against the grain, so it’s unlikely that they would’ve been.

the only argument i have for it is because we wouldn’t be naturally able to digest it if we weren’t meant to consume meat. we are all animals after all. i think maybe trying halal meat?

now that I'm on the side of veganism (not fully vegan, vegetarian but I mostly have the mentality) I understand this more and more. some vegans really go too far, like saying literally nothing can stop you from going vegan, but a lot of times I really understand the frustration. it also took a lot of thinking to finally accept like "hey I might think they're fucking annoying and I really don't like what they post but they do have a point"

The only two arguments I've heard from people around me is that eating differently isn't gonna change the capitalistic mode of production and that's the real problem, or that they just can't do it because it's just too hard. Anyways yeah veganism is hated because it's the only leftist stance that requires putting in the effort every day.

we arent going to get to end the meat industry under capitalism, and not only that, we also cant just open the gates at these farms and let these domestic animals loose, this isnt their habitat and they're very dependent on humans for survival at this point.
