@hopecookauthor: guys please i need some advice 😓 #HERESHELIES is out on the 12th of September 2026, and the Kindle eBook is available for pre order now!! #teenauthor #authortok #writertok #writingtips
Honestly, I wouldn’t force yourself through the second novel just because it’s the “main project.” If you’re already feeling uninspired halfway through, pushing harder can sometimes turn writing into a chore. That said, I also wouldn’t fully abandon it for the novella. I’d use the novella as a reset, not an escape. Give yourself a clear little window to work on it, maybe finish a few diary entries or set a small word-count goal — then come back to the main novel and see if your brain feels fresher.
And honestly, the fact that you’ve already spent 20 minutes making a Pinterest board for the novella tells me there’s clearly some creative energy there Sometimes following that energy for a little while is exactly what gets you unstuck.
Also, you’ve got your debut coming out in nine days. That’s a lot mentally, even if you’re excited about it. You don’t have to prove you can immediately produce another book at full speed. Give yourself some room.
I’d personally go with novella first, but with a boundary: don’t let the “quick project” quietly become another full-length distraction. Finish it, enjoy it, then return to novel #2.

Adriana💋 :
You know, write both cause you can use the material and the more the better (but like I’m not an author so no expert opinions here)

write both at the same time!! and if you’re leaning towards the other idea whilst you’re doing it then focus on that, the other one will always be there for you to come back to
