A clip went past me this week titled "he manages 34 AI agents." The person on camera saying "I have these 34 agents" is a woman. It's Allie K. Miller on Microsoft's WorkLab podcast, and the setup underneath the wrong title is worth copying. It isn't 34 chat windows open at once. It's an org chart. She talks to one lead agent. That one splits the job across six department agents, and each of those has three to seven specialists under it, plus temporary ones spun up for a single job and thrown away after. The reason that beats one long conversation is sitting in Anthropic's own docs and almost nobody repeats it. Every subagent starts with a fresh, isolated context window. It doesn't see your chat history, the files already read, or the skills already run. You're not handing out personalities. You're giving each job a clean desk so the last job's mess can't end up on it. The nesting is real now too. Three layers below you by default, one setting to change it, and at the bottom the agent loses the ability to delegate, so it does the work itself and hands back one summary. The part that looks like magic is the voice. She starts work while walking, no screen. Talking to an assistant on your phone is solved and has been for a while. A spoken sentence that reaches a live agent fleet and gets handed down a hierarchy is not a button anyone ships. Somebody wired that. If you have zero agents right now, thirty-four is the wrong number to be looking at. Build one that does the job you repeat most, and one whose only job is to attack the first one's output.
