@travis.woo.trades: I call this a "generational trauma trade". Sometimes a market gets burned so badly that an entire generation refuses to touch it again. That can suppress risk-taking for decades. Japan is a great example. After the enormous late-1980s bubble collapsed, Japanese equities took decades to reclaim their old highs. The scars were real. My own family had something similar. My grandfather built serious wealth through one company, then lost it when the business failed. That experience shaped how the next generation thought about investing. This is what interests me: Markets are not just numbers. They carry memory. Fear can persist. Shame can persist. Then eventually a new generation arrives without the same emotional baggage. That is when old markets can become interesting again. You cannot trade this from a chart alone. You have to understand history, psychology, policy, and how people remember pain.
