@humanoidhistory: In 1984, NASA and the FAA intentionally crashed a remote-controlled Boeing 720 in the Mojave Desert, testing an anti-misting fuel additive meant to prevent fires. The plan called for a precise wings-level landing so posts built into the runway could slice the fuel tanks open cleanly.
