I was raised by a stepdad, I found out when I was 36, 6 years after he passed. I am thankful for having him as a father, in fact he was not a stepdad but a father to me. On the other hand my biological father was raising other peoples children.

Genetics makes you a biological father, but commitment makes you a parent. Parental authority isn't a title stored on a shelf through DNA alone it is built through daily sacrifice, guidance, provision, and emotional presence. If a stepfather is the one buying the clothes, helping with homework, paying school fees, setting boundaries, and providing a safe home, he holds functional and practical authority in that child's life. Claiming an absent biological father holds ultimate authority solely because of genetics ignores the real work of parenting. DNA gives you a biological link, but actively showing up and raising a child gives you the authority to lead them.
