Man, something similar happened to me. I also left and that company is going under. I took an account from 250k to over 3m in 2 years and it wasn’t enough. The senior leader had me there before everyone and after everyone every day and expected me to be on call. I was making almost nothing for this role and left for a company where I’m making about double. That manager was fired less than a year later but the damage he did to the whole division was so catastrophic it will take a miracle for the company to stay afloat.

My current boss is so good about being kind and supportive and appreciative. Such a massive difference from previous experiences I have had. Do not stay in horrible situations! There are better opportunities out there!

It’s always astounding how managers/owners don’t grasp that without their staff they are mostly nothing. Yes, there are very entry level jobs where you can place basically anyone and they’ll be able to handle it quickly. But even those provide a service, at least internally, that others build on. Even your cleaners. A nicely kept workplace is one that people want to work in, are motivated, for starters.

This is why I will never leave my company. My friend's mom was in the hospital and it was touch and go. I told my boss what was going on, and he said "Completely understand if you need to go support your friend. We'll handle everything here."
